ciclavia - koreatown

Here are some things to know before you go:

  • CicLAvia is FREE!
  • CicLAvia lasts from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
  • CicLAvia closes streets to car traffic and opens them for people to walk, skate, bike, play, and explore parts of Los Angeles County.
  • CicLAvia is not a race! There’s no starting point or finish line—begin where you like and enjoy the day your way.
  • CicLAvia traffic flows in two directions, just like regular traffic.

  • As a general rule of thumb, only people-powered vehicles are allowed, with exceptions for persons with disabilities. That means we do not allow electric scooters, skateboards, hoverboards, unicycles, motorcycles, and other non-people-powered vehicles, but we do allow motorized wheelchairs and related vehicles for people with disabilities. We want to make sure that everyone can enjoy our route.
  • Are e-bikes allowed? Class 1 e-bike pedal assist allowed. Class 2 e-bikes are allowed when the throttle is powered off. Class 3 e-bikes are allowed when the pedal assist is powered off. Learn more here. The general rule of thumb: if you’re pedaling (and not riding), you’re clear.
  • We’re closely following LA County Public Health guidelines as we approach the event. Masks are required on public transit in Los Angeles County. If you need a mask we will have complimentary masks available at our Info Booths and of course, we have a Branded mask for sale if you want to add one to your collection.
  • As consideration for being allowed to participate in a CicLAvia, all participants are deemed to have released from liability and waived any right to sue its organizers, their employees, officers, volunteers, and agents from any and all claims, including claims of negligence, resulting in any physical injury, illness (including death) or economic loss suffered as a result of participating in this CicLAvia.
  • By participating in a CicLAvia event, each participant understands that there are risks, such as physical and/or psychological injury, pain, suffering, illness, disfigurement, temporary or permanent disability, death, or economic loss. These injuries or outcomes may arise from a participant’s or others’ actions, inactions, negligence, or the condition of the location (s) or facility (ies). Nonetheless, participants assume all known and unknown risks of participation in CicLAvia.

RULES OF THE ROUTE

  • CICLAVIA ISN’T A RACE. It’s an open streets event with no start point and no finish line. Enjoy the car-free streets any way you, please!
  • MAINTAIN SAFE SPEED. Go with the flow of other participants and make sure you’re in control!
  • PEOPLE-POWERED VEHICLES ONLY, WITH EXCEPTIONS FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES. That means we do not allow electric scooters, skateboards, hoverboards, unicycles, motorcycles, and other non-people-powered vehicles, but we do allow motorized wheelchairs and related vehicles for people with disabilities. We want to help everyone enjoy the route safely.
  • BE MINDFUL. Keep aware of your surroundings! Bikers will be whizzing, skaters ollying, trikes carving, and kids pedaling. People ride CicLAcia in all kinds of ways that aren’t in straight lines!
  • NEVER STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROUTE. Need to talk to your friend, take a photo, or drink some water? Pull over to the sidewalk before you do!
  • PASS ON THE LEFT. Remember to let people know when you’re passing them!
  • WEAR A HELMET. Everyone under 18 must wear a helmet if they are on a bike, skateboard, scooter, or passenger in a child seat. We recommend everyone wear one.
  • GET HELP IF YOU NEED IT. CicLAvia staff members and volunteers will be on the route in bright blue and yellow t-shirts. Need a repair, directions, or see something that isn’t right? Speak up!
  • CROSS SAFELY. Pay attention to staff, volunteers, & traffic officers at all crossing points and dismount zones.

The following are not permitted at CicLAvia, due to LA City law:

  • Unauthorized solicitation
  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Narcotics or illegal drugs
  • Bathing in pools or fountains
  • Damage to property
  • Feeding animals
  • Firecrackers or explosives
  • Firearms
  • Fires
  • Littering (including pet waste)
  • Public intoxication
  • Unauthorized driving or parking
  • Unauthorized vending
  • Unleashed animals
  • Weapons

E-bikes are allowed on the route, with some caveats, as long as they’re pedaled (and not just ridden by motor).
